The products were "imported from Canada without the benefit of import reinspection into the United States," the FSIS stated in its July 24 notice. The recall affects not ready-to-eat smoked bacon products distributed to retailers in Idaho, Oregon and Washington state, according to the FSIS. No illnesses have been reported related to the product, per the recall notice. The recall also comes about a week after President Donald Trump's administration announced 50% tariffs on many Canadian imports. The tariffs, expected to impact goods imported into the United States from Canada’s auto, alcohol and dairy industries, are scheduled to take effect Aug. 19. However, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has signaled he is open to negotiations, so the final rate and scope may still change.  Here's what to know about the bacon recall. The agency said the recalled products may still be in consumers' fridges and freezers. It urged people not to consume the recalled products. Consumers who purchased the recalled bacon should throw it away or return it to the place of purchase, according to the FSIS.
